Frequently asked questions

Straight answers from our Dubai-based Germany admission counsellors.

For English-taught Master's programmes, German is not mandatory but B1 level significantly improves your job prospects afterwards. Most Bachelor's programmes are in German and require TestDaF/DSH proof at B2/C1 level.

The Sperrkonto is a special bank account into which you deposit €11,904 before applying for your student visa. You can then withdraw up to €992 per month once in Germany as proof of financial capacity. Confirm the current threshold on the German Federal Foreign Office site before opening the account.

International students can work up to 140 full days or 280 half days per year — increased from the previous 120/240 rule. Confirm current rules with the local Ausländerbehörde on arrival.
