Who needs an Egypt visa from the UAE
Egyptian entry rules follow the passport you hold. Your UAE residence visa affects almost nothing, which is why two people living in the same building, booked on the same flight, can face entirely different requirements.
Emirati passport holders and several other Gulf nationalities have the simplest position. Most expatriate residents do not, and the route open to you depends on whether your nationality appears on Egypt's official e-Visa list.
That list changes. It currently runs to 78 nationalities and includes India, which many UAE agency pages still get wrong. Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Filipino, Sri Lankan and Nepali passports are not on it at the time of writing, and those holders apply through the consulate instead.

The three routes and who each one is for
There are three ways in, and which are open to you depends on your passport.
One restriction catches people out. The e-Visa portal does not accept diplomatic, service, special, official, temporary, Nansen, refugee, mission or alien's passports. If you hold any of these, the consulate is your route regardless of nationality.
Documents you will need
For the single-entry e-Visa, three items start the application.
- Passport copy — valid at least six months from your arrival date in Egypt
- UAE residence visa — with validity covering your travel dates
- Photograph — recent, plain light background
Egypt also expects you to carry supporting papers on arrival: your printed visa, a travel itinerary and hotel details. Business and family visits usually need an invitation or supporting letter, and the consulate route asks for more again.
Incomplete applications are rejected outright, so we check the file before it is submitted rather than after.

Before you travel
Print your e-Visa. Egypt requires the printout at the port of entry, and a phone screen is not a substitute.
Keep your flights refundable until the visa is issued. An approved e-Visa is not the final authority to enter Egypt — border officers retain the right to refuse entry, as they do everywhere. Planning as though approval is certain is how people lose deposits.
Your documents. Passport images you send us are used only to prepare the named application, are seen only by the counsellor handling your file, and are deleted once your visa is issued.
